New Scientific Discoveries Do Not Replace Scripture In Our Holy Torah!
This post "evolved" out of what was originally supposed to be a a simple response to recent article I read on the web detailing how science have recently discovered evidence demonstrating how complex organic substances previously believed to have come only from living things that have died, are now stated as being "made naturally by stars and ejected into interstellar space."

It simply makes the actual creation process, which I believe no religious theoretician to date has really even attempted to describe a slightly more streamlined system. In other words instead of always having to make the different hearts of the all of the different mammals for each and every animal from scratch for example: cows, pigs, goats, chickens, trout, all he would need to do is to reach in his proverbial container of cardiac muscle, myocardium, squamous epithelia, smooth muscle for surrounding the arterioles, the ar, mesothelium, endocardium, fibrous tissue, lymphatic vessels and then mold them according to His design.
Having the complex organic compound readily available for G-d's incorporation into the various designs for the different organisms poses no problem for creation what so ever. In fact it actually helps "expedite" the Ultimate Devine Production, in six days.

I have long believed, and continue to believe that the fundamental differences between the methods used in science and the methods used by religion to describe creation are not mutually exclusive. There are always going to be strict followers of one particular interpretation (amongst many different interpretations) from both religious observers and well as those sufficiently educated in the scientific method.
Probably the most amazing thing is, that certainly from a biological point of view I would say that anyone (religious or not) would be hard pressed; not to be in awe, when gazing upon the wonders of the natural world be they living things under a microscope, or heavenly bodies using a telescope.
Therefore I have always felt that there long has been this almost bitter battle between those who understand the science of natural selection; the doctrine of survival of the fittest, and the process of speciation through geographic isolation. Having spent a great deal of time learning Torah in and amongst the orthodox Jewish community which I am an active and practicing member of, I find it hard to accept the consistant lack of sophistication in the argumentation which they present.
However from the scientific side of things, the method by which they inflexibly adhere to their dogmatic theories and explanations is also something where one could easily find a great deal of fault. Just as the process by which Torah is learned and taught is never truly completed, so to too is the science of life and living things never truly completed nor perfectly understood.
I maintain that the huge rift between science and nature in today's day and age was neither an academic invention of Academicians, nor was it initiated by religious Christian or Jewish leaders. Rather it was a logical outgrowth of a highly charged political "Three Ring Circus" known by every public school child as, The Scopes Monkey Trial:

If one "imagines" or simply or more fundamentally accepts to truth of creation in Bereishis of our Holy Torah- (Genesis) G-d creating the Universe (including the Stars) World (mountains, rivers, continents (including continental plates) All the living things of the sea and land, great and small, swarming or crawling, or winged creatures flying in the air under the heavens, then the creationist would understand, okay, G-d, our Father made us out of this primordial soup the complex organic molecules that Darren Quick has written about here.
It simply makes the actual creation process, which I believe no religious theoretician to date has really even attempted to describe a slightly more streamlined system. In other words instead of always having to make the different hearts of the all of the different mammals for each and every animal from scratch for example: cows, pigs, goats, chickens, trout, all he would need to do is to reach in his proverbial container of cardiac muscle, myocardium, squamous epithelia, smooth muscle for surrounding the arterioles, the ar, mesothelium, endocardium, fibrous tissue, lymphatic vessels and then mold them according to His design.
Having the complex organic compound readily available for G-d's incorporation into the various designs for the different organisms poses no problem for creation what so ever. In fact it actually helps "expedite" the Ultimate Devine Production, in six days.

The Four Species - The Four Species: " Sukkot mitzvot is the mitzvah of the "Four Kinds" - the lulav, etrog, myrtle and willow. This is a mitzvah like any other mitzvah of the Torah, but it is a very significant one and symbolic of unity and harmony. When the blessings are recited over them, it is customary to wave them to all the four winds and also upward and downward, signifying that G-d is everywhere.
The traditional prayer Hoshana ("O’ save us!") which is said on each of the days of Sukkot (except Shabbat), is accompanied by a procession with the "Four Kinds" around the bimah in the shul."

SoMeHoW Frum: "Some years later one of the Jewish parody recordings saw fit to make fun of the Silent Prayer (Hinneni Heani) offered by the Chazan on the High Holidays before Musaf.
It took a while for me to shake these funny thoughts of cowboys, when Davening every morning. It took some time for me to appreciate the somberness of the Chazan's Tefilah prior to Musaf, without conjuring up images of cows lowing in the fields.
My feeling is that there are certain parts of Judaism, particularly the liturgy that should remain off-limits to parody.

Rav Soloveitchik on Evolution ~ Hirhurim - Musings: "Indeed, one of the most annoying scientific facts which the modern homo religiosus encounters and tries vainly to harmonize with his belief is the so-called theory of evolution. In our daily jargon, we call this antinomy "evolution versus creation." The phrase does not exactly reflect the crux of the controversy, for the question does not revolve around divine creation and mechanistic evolution as such. We could find a solution of some kind to this controversy. What in fact is theoretically irreconcilable is the concept of man as the bearer of the divine image with the equalling of man and animal-plant existences. In other words, the ontic autonomy or heteronomy of man is the problem."

I was at a good friend's son's Bar Mitzvah tonight when another friend of mine told the following joke:
Moses is up on the mountain receiving the Torah. God is dictating the commandments to him and he is faithfully writing them down to disseminate them to the Children of Israel. Then the Lord says:
"THOU SHALT NOT BOIL A KID IN ITS MOTHER'S MILK."
"God," starts Moses, "does that mean that we can't eat milk and meat together?"
'THOU SHALT NOT BOIL A KID IN ITS MOTHER'S MILK," booms the Lord again.
"Lord," asks Moses, "does this mean that we have to have two separate sets of dishes?"
"THOU SHALT NOT BOIL A KID IN ITS MOTHER'S MILK," thunders the Almighty again.
"God," entreats Moses again "does this mean we have to wait six hours after meat before we eat milk again?"
A exasperated voice comes down from the heavens: "DO WHAT YOU WANT!""

9th of Av: the Seer of Lublin’s Yahrzeit « The Wonders of Your Torah: "he Seer of Lublin, the mentor of almost all the leaders of the major Chasidic dynasties in Poland in the beginning of the 19th century (according to tradition, 120 Chasidic Rebbes were his disciples), was one of those great tzadikim who, like the Lubavitcher Rebbe in our generation, out of infinite love and compassion for the Jewish people, devoted his life, with total self-sacrifice (to the extent of becoming physically ill…), to bringing the Mashiach – now!

Wolfish Musings: High School Yet Again... One More Fear Of Mine: "Our son goes to a fairly RW Chareidi, black-hat, white-shirt/dark-pants only school. The high schools that we have looked at are not like that at all - they all encourage their students to go to college, they allow clothing with colors, many of the kids wear kippot s'rugot, many of them have televisions (well, so do many in the current school, even though it's officially highly discouraged), and most of the schools are Zionistic.
Part of the application process for just about every school that we are interested in involves having the principal fill out an evaluation on the student. Now, to be perfectly fair, my son is not the greatest student - when he's not sufficiently interested or challenged. I've found that when he has an interest in the gemara that they are learning, he is usually pretty capable of understanding it. However, if it's not so interesting, then his grades will start to plummet.

As you can see this prophecy, commenting on Numbers 24:24, apparently predicts the French Revolution, some might see Napoleon, and some other stuff, including a free Jewish kingdom in Russia, and finally the Messiah, in the year 1840-41. This was printed in 1829, when "the fulfilment, being fixed for A. M. 5601, occurs in eleven years from this time." The author errs when he writes that Rabbi Shimshon lived 300 years earlier (ca. 1529), as he was killed in 1648."

Someone is said to have said that "The Jewish people were healthier before the rabbis became doctors." Ironic. I don't know if anyone really said it, but they really say that people said it. Wolfish Musings: Today's Lesson: Bride + Makeup = Bad: " the Darchei Rachel seminary in Jerusalem is providing a scholarship of 1000 NIS (about $265) to brides from their seminary who forgo makeup on their wedding day.
The payment comes about as a result of an uptrend of girls who are wearing makeup. The administrators of the school would like to fight this trend and so they are putting this offer out there. It is too soon to judge whether or not the new rule is effective.

In Beit Shemesh, some ultra-orthodox have expressed their opposition to the opening of a national-religious school for girls (they also opposed the opening of the parallel school for boys) near their neighborhood through the vile harassment of elementary school girls and their parents that sometimes included the throwing of rocks, garbage, and feces. We used to live close to where the school is located and some of our friends have children attending the school, so this isn’t just a headline.

But then Shoftim ends with God instructing the people not to cut down fruit trees during a siege. It made me think of how the idea assigned to the object makes all the difference. After all, trees and rocks remain potent Jewish symbols. Deuteronomy itself refers to God as Tzur, "Rock." and centuries later Proverbs speaks of wisdom** as "a tree of life." The objects don't go away, they just undergo a symbolic transmutation."
